Spud - Principal Teacher

Spud is a difficult character to pin down, an international man of mystery. He was introduced to the Lindy Hop by a good friend Jas in 2003, her boyfriend had two left feet and she was looking for someone to share this exciting partner dance that she wanted so much to learn. Jas had seen Spud's "natural talent" for dancing in dimly lit nightclubs doing his own version of the the 'disco boogie'. After his first class he was hooked and he set out to master, in his own unique way, the Lindy Hop.
His personal dedication to the dance inspires him to strive for dynamic partner connection, improvisation and musicality. The ability to express all of this adds to Spuds unique and individual style. Spud enjoys the social spirit of swing dancing, he is a ‘Jack and Jill’ champion in both Australia and Japan. (The 'Jack & Jill' is a competition that pairs dancers randomly, to judge their skill as social dancers.) Spud also has an extensive performance background, performing and choreographing for the Hullabaloo Hoppers performance troupe.
Having taught Lindy Hop both in Australia and overseas, Spud strives to create a relaxed, fun atmosphere in his classes, never forgetting what it is like to learn to dance for the first time. His personal dance motto is: “It doesn’t matter how good you are, whoever has the most fun dancing wins!!"
